Day 1

San Jose - Get a feel for San Jose on a guided sightseeing walk through the city. There are plenty of museums, cafes and shops to visit, or simply relax in the main plaza and watch the world pass by.

Day 2-3

La Fortuna - Head out into the beautiful surrounds and explore the emerald countryside by bike. Discover the La Fortuna Waterfall, take a canopy tour for a birds-eye view of the forest or visit the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge.

Day 4-5

Monteverde - Explore the emerald green cloud forest by foot or by bike to admire the vast array of plants, birds and animals.

Days 6-7

Manuel Antonio National Park - Discover the white sand beaches, tropical vegetation and turquoise waters of Manuel Antonio National Park. Hike along the trails to spot some of the abundant wildlife or take to the warm waters to swim, kayak or surf.

Days 8-9

San Jose - Return to San Jose and perhaps enjoy a meander through the stalls of the Central Market, see the vast collection of shimmering art at the Gold Museum or catch a show at the city's pride and joy - the National Museum.

Overview

The jewel of Central America, Costa Rica's environment is world-renowned as one of nature's most vibrant and diverse. You are required to carry your pack on and off trains and buses, up hotel steps, etc. Your itinerary may include easy paced walks or bike rides, but these are on mainly flat ground.
The trip includes a range of accommodation, such as basic hotels with western facilities or overnight trains. Days of being on the move are well interspersed, communication with the outside world is ever-present and a wide variety of food is commonly available.

This trip travels to a somewhat conservative area. We encourage you to experience the destination and culture with the following in mind:

Public Display of affection - These are not common in this area however in some cases holding hands is acceptable.

Gay Activities - This trip may have limited gay hosted events, meals or day tours due to the cultural sensitivity of this region. We will do our best to provide a safe, comfortable environment for you and your fellow travellers to experience this culture.
